Now more then ever, we are called to be better stewards of our planet and resources.  Camelia’s Recycled Candles is one more step toward environmental responsibility.

Every Camelia’s Recycled Candles is made entirely from the wax of previously burned or unused Candles - candle stubs that might otherwise be thrown in landfill.  Also, each newly created candle has AT LEAST 65% beeswax.

The Recycled wax makes its way to Camelia’s Candles, where we
separate colored and scented wax. The wax is then melted down and made into color chips and scented disk’s for wax simmering pots.

 

From here the wax can be used for:

• WATERPROOFING; matches, tent seams, shoes, fishing flies and nets

• LUBRICANTS: zippers, saw blades, drawers/window slides

• SEALS: metal, wood, cement, paper and leather

• INGREDIENTS: soap, lip balm, hand cream, mustache wax, candles, beahive foundations

• BINDING: Bow strings, sewing thread, rope, dread locks

• ARTISTIC APPLICATIONS: batik, en caustic painting, wax sculpture

Waste is avoided at every step.  The recycle content is all handmade process, where labels are stripped off, and dirty wax is placed in a melting pot to make pinecone firestarters, called survival candles.

No two candles are exactly alike. All variations or “imperfection” are considered to be part of the natural aesthetic and add to our candles’ charm.

 

Our Goal is to keep as much wax as we can from clogging up landfills and instead reuse old wax in decorative and enjoyable candles.

We make blocks of wax for using on window and door sliders.

Our candles light easily and  stay lit, burning bright for many hours with a very attractive and pleasant beeswax scent.

Because Camelia’s Recycled Candles are made entirely from the wax of previously burned candles, we use whatever we collect. Furthermore, we do not alter the natural color or scent with additives. This is why color consistency may vary from to batch.
